Coming to Circus: Henry Saiz, Coldharbour, Norin & Rad, Belocca

coming_to_circus_may_2013_featured

With the slew of top notch May bookings that have been announced since Bal en Blanc, seems like Montreal will be kicking off the summer party circuit much earlier this year, and with incredible style. Circus Afterhours has really stepped up it’s game for May with some massive bookings that are sure to please trance and progressive junkies alike, and keep the afterhours packed all month long. What excites us even more is the fact that most of these bookings are world class international DJs who have never played Circus before. Some people don’t like change, but we say “Out with the old, and in with the new!” After all, even an afterhours has some Spring cleaning to do.

Norin & Rad, Carl Muren & Paul Random, Malek – May 10th 2013

First up is the Montreal (and quite possibility Canada) debut of US trance duo Norin & Rad (aka: Bruce & Nick) on Friday, May 10th. The Montreal Trance Family is psyched for this one, and for good reason. In the span of a year, Norin & Rad have absolutely exploded onto the scene thanks to solid releases on Anjunabeats, and remixes for the likes of Above & Beyond, Andy Moor, Armin Van Buuren, and more. Not to mention an extensive festival tour in 2012 including performances at EDC in Vegas, Electric Zoo in New York, and Tomorrowland in Belgium. Known for their unique mash ups and edits, Norin & Rad are building a sound and an identity all of their own that combines the best of trance, progressive, house, tech, and electro in a way that shows skill far beyond their years. Be sure to check out their latest track ‘Aldo’, and their Miami 2013 Mix on their Soundcloud page to get a feeling for what the boys are all about.

KhoMha, Grube & Hovsepian, Project Offset – May 17th 2013

Coldharbour returns to Montreal Friday, May 17th at Circus with performance by KhoMha, and Grube & Hovsepian. With label head Markus Schulz playing New City Gas that same night (his first gig after an intensive 2 month US Bus Tour), it only seems logical for his boys to keep the party going well into the next morning. Making his second ever appearance at Circus after playing in September 2012, and at Beach Club the same day, KhoMha is without a doubt a fan favourite among the Montreal Trance Family. If you haven’t already, you’re going to want to check out KhoMha’s ASOT 600 Den Bosch liveset from last weekend to get up to speed. Grube & Hovsepian will also be making their second appearance at Circus having previously played in April 2012 alongside Arnej, and Basil O’Glue. The duo are currently riding a hot streak with their latest track ‘Trickster’, which Markus recently played on Global DJ Broadcast World Tour (Johannesburg), and again with Ferry Corsten as part of their New World Punx alias at ASOT 600 in New York.

Henry Saiz, Belocca, Richie G, Oren D & more – May 19th 2013

Two days later on Sunday, May 19th, Spanish progressive house master Henry Saiz will be taking over the decks at Circus for a night that you do not want to miss. Best known for his breakout remix of Guy J’s ‘Lamur’ on Bedrock in 2009, and his critically acclaimed Balance Music 019 compilation in 2011, Saiz is also known for his live performances making him a true renaissance man of the EDM scene. We highly recommend you check out his Transitions guest mix from November 2012 to get a taste of what’s in store. Having last played Circus in September 2010, his return has been long overdue and a perfect way to celebrate the long weekend. Playing the next room over from Saiz is house/techno DJ Belocca from Hungary, who, to be completely honest, we know next to nothing about. However, we did some digging and are pleasantly surprised to find out that not only has this guy been around for a while, but he’s released tracks on some of the biggest labels including Toolroom, Yoshitoshi, and Stealth Records. Definitely going to be a night filled with tons of track IDs!
