Omar El Gamal was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1986. He lived in Egypt till he was 14 years old then he moved with his family to the USA. Omar has lived in California, Florida, and Ohio where he finished his High School. Omar used to be a Professional Swimmer. He swam for the Egyptian National Team. He represented the Egyptian National Team in many International Swimming Events like the Mediterranean Games and the African Games. He also swam in High School in the States where he earned an All-American in the 500yards Free Style.
In 2004, Omar decided to move to Montreal, Canada to attend University where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University. Omar el Gamal fell in love with the city and the night life in Montreal, especially the vibrant EDM scene in Montreal. His first big party was at the legendary afterhours Stereo Nightclub, where he went to see Markus Schulz play in November 2006. He immediately fell in love with EDM, more specifically dark progressive melodic trance. He was fortunate to see many great DJays like Markus Schulz, Sasha, Digweed, Armin van Buuren, Danny Howells, & Gareth Emery to name a few. The exposure to different genres in EDM has helped him find exactly what he likes. Omar is influenced by many different genres like rock, trance, & house. Omar agrees with Armin van Buuren’s motto “never be a prisoner of your own style”. He believes that a DJ has to be open to all genres because all genres feed into each other, and great musicians are influenced by different sounds.
2009 was a great year for Omar, as he was selected as the local Montreal DJ to play at the massive “Global 2009″ event at Circus in September 2009 where he shared the decks with many great DJays like Wippenberg, Alex M.O.R.P.H. & Simon Patterson. Omar El Gamal started 2010 on a good note, he played at the massive “Odyssey 2010″ event at Circus Afterhours, where he shared the decks with big names like Wippenberg, Gareth Emery, Saeed Younan, and Arnej. Omar believes that the only way to succeed and excel in his DJ career is to start producing his own music. Currently, Omar is working on developing his own unique sound that hopefully he will be able to carry around the world in the near future.
